I have to wallpaper several ceilings, for the first time in my life. Are there any special rules? Should I overlap onto walls? Should I turn the corner down to the picture rail, or should I cut an overlap and a second piece for the wall above the picture rail? Please help!

Take down the picture rails!! It will make life easier!

The main rule of wallpapering I follow is to "cut into corners" i.e. don't attempt to take the paper round corners. It's going to be difficult enough to paper the ceiling without the extra hassle of lining up the bends.

cut an overlap and a second piece for the wall above the picture rail
I think this is your best option but it would be interesting to see what other replies you get.

Good luck.

why on earth are you wallpapering a ceiling?Never heard of that.
