wallpapering over old paper

Can i put new wallpaper over old paintable paper (super fresco type but not quite as thick)? walls are in need of re- plastering but don't really want to do that.

Not over textured blown vinyls, only over very flat well adhered paper.

In a word..NO...strip the walls first..you will be throwing money away by papering over paper.

One of the biggest no no's in decorating.

DITTO to that. You just dont know how well adhered the paper is. The paste on the new paper will start to soak it and make it bubble and it may not go back down.
