Hi everyone
I’ve got a dormer conversion. When walking in certain parts the walls creak. Usually this is because the sole plate of the wall is rubbing against the floor.
However, being a dormer, there are steels either side of the floor boards. There are then wooden battens along the top of these. This gives the issue of not being able to glue and screw it down.
I’ve tried putting screws along the joins in the floorboards (these were nailed before) in the hope it tightens the floor up. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have done anything.
Any suggestions? The creaking comes from either edge of the joists going into the steels.
Cheers
