I'm totally B****y confused now!!

if the fire that is causing the problem is Owned/operated by the person being inconveienced, the answer is simple TURN IT OFF when the kid is in bed!

If the Fire is owned/Operated by a neighbouring property, as I originally saw it - something is very wrong.

Having re-read the thread 50 times and inwardly digested the information, I think you were right 1st time Boilerman2.

The fire belongs to the neighbour, and something is seriously wrong, I certainly wouldn't let the kid be sleeping in there.

I will try to explain this as best as I can. My friend lives in a three bedroomed house and next door has been converted into two flats. Downstairs is one and upstairs is another.

The problem is this, when the upstairs flat has its gas fire on, it warms the bricks

Not that it is important, as the OP has not offered any more info, so he is obviously not too interested

Its quite simple.

The OP lives somewhere else.

The OP has a friend who lives in a semi.

Next door to the friend is a upstair's flat.

When that flat uses their gas fire their son in the next room feels too hot to sleep.

Neither the son, parent, friend, or even the OP now, have any interest in this thread!

But is the house a ware house ? and that bed on a mezzanine floor - or is it an assumed floor

The bed is floating in mid air in a room with an exceptionally high ceiling. Surely my diagram is self-explanatory in that respect.
