Has anyone had experience of their washer making a funny smell during washing cycle. Im not sure if the element is on its way out , the smell is a bit like the smell a kettle makes when it blows !

Try it on a rinse cycle only ( or a cold water wash) this will not use the heater at all and so can isolate that part of your machine. Then Try a spin only if the smell is evident then you may have a motor problem or bad soldered joints on the motor drive panel... A bit mote info on the make and model would help a lot. Give as much info as you can..
