Hey Everyone, I'm new here and I have a problem with my washing machine. It washes fine but when it gets to the spin cycle it clicks on then off or it may stay on for a few moments then clicks itslef off again. It doesn't spin the water out of the washer.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening or who could help me out.

Its and Admiral washer, if that helps.

Being over here in the U.K. I do not know that brand of washer, a lot of people assosiate problems on washers with the "timer" this is more often than not NOT the case, the "timer" has a set of functions to do depending on where you decide to start each programme from.

The "timer" will stop at certain intervals waiting for something to happen (for this example, waiting for the drum to fill up in the first place) it will only start again when the pressure sensor in this case says the drum is full of water.

So it may be that the "timer" is waiting for something else to happen before it lets the washer spin.

On front loaders (most popular here inthe U.K) no spin is usually caused by worn out motor brushes, but the only top loader make i worked on had an induction motor (no brushes required) but it also had a pair of clutch shoes and these do wear out and will cause no spin

In short as i have no idea about American washers (so i was told american m/c wash in almost cold water, and top loaders are favoured) it would be best to call an engineer who specialises in your brand of washer
