Hi,

Can I use a 40mm Tee like below to join the waste from both a washing machine and a sink?

The left hand side is a washing machine, so thinking of putting a washing machine trap and then joining to the T. Other side kitchen sink, planning on putting a P trap and join to other side of Tee.

OK to do, or asking for trouble with overflow/blockages? One point of concern is the T seems to have a direction of flow. It's not a simple equal T so maybe not suitable?

Tee needs to be on straight run with the additional connection coming in on the branch, they're swept in the direction of flow for a reason. Either fit Tee slightly lower, bring one side into the top using a bend and then the other into the branch , or get a Cross Tee and cap the top unused leg off with an Access Plug. Solvent Weld Cross Tee - 92.1/2° x 40mm White - 11897 (bes.co.uk)

Thanks Hugh,

Would something like this be acceptable?

The horizontal is the sink waste. Cut in a tee and drop the washing machine into the top.
