The model is Margherita AL 108D. That is the only symptom, whatever we try to do, water is entering, even in the drying program. Any idea would be appreciated. Regards,
Your solenoid valve is probably not shutting off properly. Thats the valve just behind the hose connection. Replacements are usually cheap £10 - £20 although I did come across one that cost about £60. It's a relatively easy DIY job.
Do remember to unplug the machine. I must be Uncle Fester or something cos whenever I play with washing machines I always get a shock.
I do believe this subject belongs in another section
There is an easy test which will let you know if it is the valve and if so which one it is, follow these steps.
1. Removed dispenser drawer and get a torch.
2. Turn on hot valve under sink and shine torch into dispenser to see if you see and drips.
3. Turn off hot valve.
4. Turn on cold valve and check again.
This will let you physically see if there is any letting by from the valves and will also tell you which one it is. It is usually the hot valve.
The main causes for this problem are any roadworks in the area which let grime into the supply and your hot water is too hot, both of these things will damage the diaphram in the valve and cause it to fill when off.
I remember when mine went, got up in the morning went to throw the work clothes in opened the machine door to be met with a torrent of water. It had filled right to the top overnight
