problem with ariston margherita 2000

hello friends

I have a ariston margherita 2000 waching machine. When i switch on the machine and turn the knob to no.8 (which is for synthetics and the wash takes 45min to complete) in a few seconds it moves by itself to no.9 and just stops there with the red light blinking.I tried a couple of times by switching off and on the machine but now the knob moves on its own to no.9 and the light blinks non-stop. to try another way i started the machine by turning the knob to no.5 but then after a few seconds it again turned to no.9 and stayed there with the light blinking. would appreciate your response on how to solve this problem.

Count the flashes before the rapid flash. That will be the error code
