It is always good practice to separate appliances, especially cookers and washers. Reason being is to reduce congestion of cables/pipes at the back, making them easier to maintain. Other is that when they are too close, care has to be taken when using them i.e. cooker oven is hot and you are next to it loading a washing machine!!
