Hi,

At home, we have a pre-pay electric meter. One day, we ran out of money on the meter and the electric went off.

Ever since then, we haven't been able to turn the washing machine on. None of the lights light up on the front at all, there is no power to it. I've checked the fuse box, everything is normal. My girlfriend replaced the fuse in the plug which didn't fix it either. We have tried other things in the power socket which works, so the problem isn't the socket.

Anyone know what the problem is likely to be? One of our friend's said it might be the PCB, but she doesn't know a lot of electrics herself and is guessing. How likely is this?

Thanks,

Chris

The simple things are "fuse change and loose connections of flex to plug and/or appliance"
Although you have changed fuse, are you sure the fuse that was used as replacement was in working condition? Never take that for granted!
You state other items work whilst plugged in to the same socket outlet, is this a single socket or double? Have you used the same outlet if double? As it is possible on double sockets that one socket can pack in whilst other is functional, generally down to the switch on the plate.
Again as you have stated socket has power, so can rule out RCD fused spur, as this will generally need resetting when power is lost.
Just out of interest, have you tried to power up appliance by use of another socket outlet via an extension lead?
Other possibilities are internal fuses (within appliance), would require to do some continuity test to diagnose though.
