or Element?. the 60° wash only heated to about 30°, and the 90° wash even less!. I understand that when elements they become 'open circuit' so don't work at all. This one appears to be slightly working, so does that point to the thermostat?.
Could also be a faulty connection to the element, or the relay which switches the element is faulty, or the programmer board is not activating the heat element at the right times.
Or that the machine is made by Beko.
Thanks for the reply, flameport. it doesn't seem to be heating the water at all now. the element is ok because I connected up an external source of power to it, and it worked. I also tried it with the thermostat terminals unplugged, and then with the thermostat terminals connected together. Not sure that's the way to test for a faulty thermostat, but it made no difference. I've continuity tested the relevant connections.
The machine's only about a year old, and was to replace a 25-year-old Phillips model, but with this trouble I decided it was easier to repair the old Philips, by managing to fit the door seal upside down!.
The Beko was bought on gumtree and not fully tested before I got it home. The seller isnt very good at answering the phone, so I might have to sell it for spares or repair!
