washing machine problem-Hotpoint Aquarius WMA35

Having a problem in that when washing the drum fills with water-but not as much as it used too-you can only just see it in the bottom of the drum- and washing agitates ok-but not enough water in there. I Have checked inlet pipe feeds on hot and cold water and both seem to be working fine- no leaks and the cycles run their course-can anyone help please?
 
do you have the 1/2 load option , could be this
try a couple of empty 95'c washes with a litre of vinegar & drop of bleach , could be a bit of gunge in the pipes
see what happens after that
 
excellent advice

had no vinegar so used half bottle milton sterilising solution-and 3 90 degree washes later is now good as new!!
