Had to get bearings replaced on my washing machine. Repairman had failed to tighten up the big hose inside that attaches to the drum and the first we realised was the kitchen floor flooded. Hubby managed to re-attach the hose and I did one complete wash. Today it is blowing the RCD as soon as it goes to the fast spin cycle. Will drain and fill OK. Can't get hold of repair man (Friday night). Can I assume that the water spraying around the inside has caused it to short circuit? If so will it dry out and how long would it take? Have left the top cover off just in case it is damp. Does anyone have any other suggestions. Any suggestions/advice would be welcome. Thanks.

motor brushes worn, too much carbon dust in it, unplug machine and point vacuum cleaner at it. or the motor / its brushes are damp

how long will it take to dry out?

depends how warm is the room

Thanks for your reply. Used a fan heater in case it was damp, hoovered the motor but it still wouldn't work. Took the motor off and opened it and got a lot of carbon dust from the inside using a compressor to blow it out. Put it back together and tried all the different cycles and it seemed to go ok. Loaded it up and set it off and it tripped the rcd again but at the start of the cycle not just on the fast spin. Looked at the speed control module (?) the circuit board next to the motor and there is a bit of carbon/ scorching round 2 of the transistors so this could be the problem. Any body know where I can get a new one? Any idea what price it would be? Or is this a symptom of another fault and a replacement board would also blow. Thanks
