Washing machine waste size?

Just moved house and we're not using the dishwasher as much, was thinking about cutting down the waste of the dishwasher and fitting the mcalpine connector & jubilee clip just so it doesn't get a chance to dry out (kitchen does get hot due the the size of the windows, was 32c last week)

is the upright section 40mm?
