That's not strictly true (the programmers had it) I used to work for a w/m company people often though the timer was at fault when it wasnt.
The "programmer" only moves on to the "next stage" after the previous one has been completed, so the brand i used to fix would stop, it could be on heat pause (waiting for the water to get hot enough), Rinse hold, or it could be waiting for more water, so it is all very well to say "programmer has had it" but it may NOT be so, either way I would not reomend a diy person to touch inside a w/m, the same goes for any "specialist" item. if you are unsure DONT TOUCH IT, get a professional, but do get more than one quote, unless it is from the manufacturer

thats why you used to work for a washing machine company and i still do, the programmers had it,needs replacing

try again, i stopped working for a w/m company through choice, not once did i get in a spin, or in a lather, i just did not want to end up being all washed up, then left out to dry, as most of them were heading that way.

as a profesional, YOU should realise that fixing a w/m is not for the diy enthusiast, to you and me it is 2nd nature because we were trained what to do, we know what goes where, the diy person does not, that is why i suggest that unless they know what they are doing leave well alone
