I have a big (> 12" dia) wasp's nest in my loft. Doesn't cause much trouble and I was going to wait till the end of the wasp season and then remove it. But a friend tells me wasps never reuse an old nest, but if I get rid they might build a new one in the same place, so better to leave. That's a new one on me, can anybody confirm?

Mostly true, they will not reuse it, but might build right next to it. They also give a purring noise at night in warm weather where they are ventilating the nest.

Thanks, that's what I thought. So not much difference whether I remove it or not.
