Hi

I noticed damp patches on my sitting room ceiling a few months ago. I sealed all around the bath, showers and sinks upstairs with silicone but still the damp patches got bigger!

EVENTUALLY ! I found the root cause of my problem - very proud of myself seeing as I'm a girl and haven't a clue about this type of stuff! Anyway obviously when I bought the house 3 years ago the guy who installed the sink in my ensuite cut the waste pipe for the sink too short. As a result the connector between the waste pipe and the sink just sits on top of the waste pipe instead of being secured. Is there any way to fix this?? I have put a load of silicone at the end of the waste pipe in the hope of stopping the water going into the rafters and just staying on the bathroom tiles!

Forget the silicone.

Buy a new piece of pipe and cut it to the correct size and fit. :D

Hi Bahco

Yeah I did that but it is too big - the DIY store gave me the smallest diameter pipe in stock
