Waste pipe for toilet

I am replacing the old WC and have some spare underground drainage pipe (the reddy brown one). As it's the same size as grey waste pipe is it OK to use it or is there something inherently obvious I've missed?

your not supposed to use it above ground AFAIK

You're right - just spoke to local builders merchant. Apparently the plastic degrades above ground....PLUS a building inspector would do his nut!
