Hi I have recently had a leak from the flat upstairs come through my hallway ceiling. The water came through fast and the leak was rectified straight away.
Unfortunatly the artexed ceiling has been left with brown water marks down both sides and across the middle where the plaster boards behind the artexing join. It has now been drying out for a week and hasnt holed atall but if poking hard with a finger can feal slightly soft but not extremely. The ceiling has a double layer of plaster board.

Would it be possible to:

a) paint over when fully dried?

b) re skim when fully dried?

Or will I have to fully replace ceiling?

Any advice, cheers J

It would be best or should i say easiest to repair the hole, match in the artex and the apply spray stain block, then repaint the area or whole ceiling.
