What is the norm for bringing water into a big house which is converted into flats ?

I am thinking about buying such a building which was converted in 1991 and the flats have water feeds, but i don't know the set up yet. Will find out more next week. However, my worry is the house is not on an uprated feed.

So my question is what is the norm set up for this situation. Is it:

1) larger diameter pipe from the street into the building, then split into 7 separate feeds with meters for each flat ?

2) 7 separate water feeds from the street in 25mm pipe into the meter boxes in the house and then continue from each meter into the flats.

Older properties I’ve seen on separate feeds, however I’ve worked on a few new build flats where it’s a massive main to a manifold type, then separate feeds metered from that.
