water gushing for four hours

We purchased a house through auction and before it could close, someone removed the fridge, water was turned off at street and when it was turned back on the water gushed from the icemaker line for over four hours. The owners insurance will have to cover. So far, they are taking up flooring in kitchen, pulling back carpet in hall, have a dehumidifer and fans going. Plan to treat and put down new flooring. This has to be done before closing. What else should I do, be aware of, inspect, etc. before agreeing to project.

Here you would be very lucky to get the seller to do anything when something like that happened.

Very stupid to turn on water and leave it on with no one in the house and without checking there is no problem.
