Mira Sport 9.8KW. I notice from the installation diagram that there is a separate earth wire attached to the point where the water main comes into the shower. Is this necessary if the shower is on a dedicated circuit protected by a RCD?

134.1.1 Good workmanship by competent persons or persons under their supervision and proper materials shall be used in the erection of the electrical installation. Electrical equipment shall be installed in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the equipment.

So if they say it should be fitted then it should.

However

701.415.2 Supplementary equipotential bonding
................................
Where the location containing a bath or shower is in a building with a protective equipotential bonding system in accordance with Regulation 411.3.1.2, supplementary equipotential bonding may be omitted where all of the following conditions are met:
.................................

So it could be old instructions but do remember the regulations don't only require the shower to be RCD protected but all other electrical items in the bathroom for example the lights.

I would ask who ever is signing the Part P completion cert for advice.
