unfortunately a couple of weeks ago I lost a roof slate in the middle of a deluge and gained a massive damp patch. It's dry to touch now but I wasn't sure if I could just paint over it or if it needs stripping back and re-plastering.

The wall around the door is brick with a wooden lintel over the door and the wall to the left is a stud partition. They were both re-plastered a couple of years ago using plasterboard.

Thanks in Advance

If the plaster feels solid enough when you press it and its not crumbly it will probably be fine.

One it has dried out properly you will need to use a stain block paint.

The area over the door with the wooden lintel will take longer to dry.
