Water leak in ceiling

Toilet leaked through kitchen ceiling, blown about 3 layers of paint off.

I've bought toupret fine plaster (boxed) as the readymade polyfilla seams to shine through and hard to sand.

I was thinking I need to provide stain blocker. No nonsense paint is cheapest as screw fix. Wasn't sure if people would recommend the spray or the tin?
Or should I use another brand?

Will I be okay filling over stain locker or will it need coat of emulsion for a key?

Yes leak all fixed

I would replace the ceiling in damaged area, the plasterboard will be mush.

How old is your house and do the ceilings have textured coatings or paint?
