Hello

My Dad was aware this would happen apparently.
He seems to be less concerned than me (to be fair he is doing other work on the house and is too busy to look into this just yet).

We had the Chimney breast removed from atic height and approved by Building Regs.

We have not had the Chimney pots sealed do you think its expensive to get that done? and is there any alternative I can use for the time being apart from a bucket lol

The roof is high and will need scaffolding..

I don't want to get a wood worm infestation..

Thanks in Advance

You certainly won't get woodworm from a leaking chimney

How about getting the whole thing removed and tiled over, if this is possible.

Yeah I guess but think that might be expensive I just don't like the idea of rain water splashing onto the wood and plasterboard nearby.

Fitting a chimney pot cap will help reduce rainwater ingress, if in fact this is the problem.

I would normally advise this if there was a chance the chimney would possibly be used again in the future. As you have had the breast removed below roof level then the ideal solution would be to remove it completely. IMHO of course.
