Following a leak, Dynoplumb visited our house and replaced the metal mains service water pipe to our house with a new blue plastic pipe (25mm) from the road to the front of the garage, then reduced this sized pipe to 15mm - approx. 9m under the garage before connecting to the internal stop cock. However, the main tank in the loft now runs dry and this did not happen prior to this work.

Should Dynoplumb have continued with the wider 25mm pipe and not reduced it to 15mm - Dynoplumb are now stating it is Affinity Water's issue, and Affinity Water are now blaming Dynoplumb - so need a little advice please?

Many thanks

Your float valve in the CWST could be full of crud.

Andy

Thanks Andy, but Dynoplumb revisited and said they had checked the CWST and then said the tank was too small, which had worked for the last 10 years with no problems.....

Fill a bucket at your kitchen sink cold tap. Time it. How many litres per minute does it deliver?

Look at all the stopcocks, service valves and flexible connectors on the pipe, from pavement to tank. How many are there? Please provide photos.

Please provide a photo of the pipes round the tank, and the float valve inside it.

Is the 15mm pipe copper, or plastic? How did they get it under the garage?

What sort of shower have you got? Is it pumped?

I will get photos shortly and carry out the bucket exercise later this morning.

The 15mm pipe is white plastic and they fed it under the garage floor through an existing duct.

We have 2 power showers which come off the same pump.

Thanks

They may well have "checked" the tank but not taken the ballvalve apart! I have next to no faith at all in Dyno anything - Just my personal opinion - Without prejudice. Andy is correct, and it's not unusual for a bit of grit to get into a new service pipe - happens to the best of us, but being aware we are prepared for a F.O.C. visit to clear it;)

15mm pipe on mains pressure should fill a tank with ease.
That it has been ok or 10 years does not mean its incorrectly set up.

15mm OD plastic is about half the size of 15mm Copper.

Is that really what they fitted?

Is the pressure and flow from your cold water kitchen tap the same as it was before you had the work done ,or is it better ,or worse ?
