I have just changed the taps in the kitchen so shut down the main feed and every valve I could find. Once I finished I opened all the valves again only to find a severe loss in pressure on the cold tap. Could there be an air block in the system????? Please help as my wife is not very amused.

Cheers for any help

Not an air lock, the kitchen cold tap should be on the mains which pushes them out. ometimes valves "jam" half open and a wiggle or two is needed to open them fully, otherwise take the tap off again to make sure there's nothing blocking it.
Some concentric mixer taps are quite restrictive.

For what it's worth - I'm now where angels fear to tread:
Aerators should be removed when installing new taps and left off the spout until debris free water flows under full/original pressure.

This very true Tim however it would effect the hot as well if there was a blockage on the end of the spout.

Probably got something simple like a twisted flexible hose.
