I am wanting to wall mount a wireless access point (Netgear WG102) outside. Obviously they are not designed to be mounted outside but I think in a Gewiss or similar box with suitable cable entry glands it will be fine and in any case it will be under the soffit so fairly well sheltered. Trouble is I have not found a big enough one (without being stupidly big). What I need is 150mm accross the front 150mm deep and 190mm high minimum (no reduction in the coners for screw holes) with the lid mounted on the front and being clear so I can see the lights on the access point without removing the cover. Has anyone come across a suitable box?????

Many thanks

the clear front may be tricky. You can get various enclosures and adaptables for prototypes from Rapideducation

http://www.rapideducation.co.uk/rkmain.asp?PAGEID=80008 (search "boxes" if it doesn't work)

this one is not big enough

Is it SELV? Would a plastic sandwich box or parts box sort of thing do if you fitted glands to it?

I may also be possible to put the router inside and run a coax outside to an aerial.

But aerials for the access point are £60 and cables £29 rather than an RG45 patch cable £1.50 and box £10?????
