Waterproofing mortar below dpc

Building an extension to the side of my property.
The foundations are in and passed.
Now building up to dpc.

Is it a good idea to use waterproofer in the mortar mix in the courses within the ground and up to dpc. I have quite a high water table so considering if waterproofing is necessary.
