How common is that in the South East? I know you are near Heathrow, which is often one of the hottest areas in the country.
We've only ever experienced anything like that once, and that was when there was a widespread temperature inversion up here which lasted all night.
For many families it is their main chance to take a break together. So, why take a risk that the weather will be poor. Also, it is cheaper to go abroad.

There has to be more to skin cancer than exposure (over ) to the Sun its not like we did not evolve on this planet and did not evolve with the sun always there. - Unless of course we are not native to this planet - where is that alien thread.

Ask carmanmeranda to look into it for you, I am sure he said that he was a weather reader as well as general know it all. He will tell you that it isn't actually raining.
