My block paved drive is sprouting weeds like nobodys business this year. Whats the best weed killer out there to get rid of the pests and won't stain or mark the (red) paving bricks.

I saw something called Roundup Ultra 3000, is it any good? Is there something better out there?

Thanks for that. Did a quick search on Pathclear and it turns out since the makers changed the formula (out went Paraquat and Simazine) it doesn't seem to do the job anymore.

Does Roundup have the same problem?

Pathclear, Weedol, and most diy centre weedkillers contain paraquat as its main ingredients. They are a contact only weedkiller, killing the green leaves sometimes within 24 hrs, unfortunately the weed itself will usually survive and regrow within a few weeks. So you then go out and buy more!! You need a systemic weedkiller containing glyphosate the easiest one to get hold of is Roundup. The best by far is Clinic Ace, which you get of the net or a good agricultural suppliers. It will be very slow acting and it can take several weeks before you see any change in the weed. It normally starts with a disfiguring/curling of the leaves. Once their dead thats it. No return.

Hope this helps

Zeb

Thanks. Is glyphosate safe to use on paved driveways?, or is it something you should use on lawns only?

JohnD - not sure when the formula changed but there are 21 reviews at www.reviewcentre.com, the most recent is this month.

safe to use, although check to make sure it doesnt discolour any of the paving. dont use roundup on lawns, unless you want to kill it!

boiling water on weeds makes them go brown within 24 hours -- also, it does no harm to any other plants around and doesnt cost any more than the cost of boiling the kettle

Glyphosate. But once the weed roots have established they will come back. I strim some weeds and don’t notice much difference from weed killer
