Putting a Catnic type 'box' lintel over a window in solid 13" brick wall (brick & half).

Is there a need to use weep vents in a solid wall, or are they the preserve for cavity walls?

No need in a solid wall as there's no tray to catch/direct any moisture to them if you think about it.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Someone said to me that it would help any moisture in the brickwork escape rather than sitting on the steel and reducing it's lifespan.

But I'll take it as there being 'no point'.
