Weird gas main thing - how to remove?

Does anyone know what this is and if there's a way to either shorten it or put it under the floorboards? Other houses don't seem to have this. Thanks.

It's electricity, not gas.

Don't try to remove it unless you have been professionally assured that it is dead.

Contact your DNO and ask them to inspect it. Even if it is a redundant supply it might still be live.

The DNO ( Distribution Network Operator ) is the company that install the service cables, They are NOT the company that you pay for your electricity,
