Yeah, and there's an old covenant that only allows a gun to be aimed 'up and down'! :D

Edward, that top picture looks as though there's a power cable coming out of the top of the plate with an Earth coming off. Is that right?

Hello.
The 'plates' were fixed @ 6ft from pavement level.
Didn't measure them but looking at the pic's they are similar in height to a common housebrick, and about half as wide. .

The G/Y earth cable is a new ? 'main bond' to the gas, using the hole in the wall to reach the C/U. Interestingly there was a 'band' which looked like the initial way the gas service was 'bonded' running up to to the 'plate' ?. Maybe they are simply blanking plates from an 'old' service .

Not a good explanation I know but had to show interest in the electrical quote I was supposed to be concentrating on  Anyhow I start the job 8-3-10 so will find have a good old poke around and let you know if the answer isn't found earlier. ;)
Regards
Ed.

The estate might have had communal oil storage for the oil fired heating. That was a meter/shutoff point for non-payers ;) That was when Labour meant Socialism
