OK - I will be externally and internally rendering/plastering my extension and the main block I will be using will likely be a standard Celcon 3.6N block.

However I have an internal wall which needs to be 150mm wide and will be a supporting wall for my main two beams where I knock through the kitchen into the extension. The house is two storys. The plans just say "150 dense concrete block" but they say this for every wall!!. Can a lightweight 3.6N block be used or should it have something more substantial?

Obviously there would be a padstone where the beam sits on wall.

Thanks

Why do you need "150mm dense concrete block" walls internally?
What sort of loads do you have which need such thick walls?
Has your plan drawer/architect drawn plans before?

I will be knocking a 6.5m hole through the back of my house and this wall will be supporting everything above about 2 meters away from one end.

Talking with a few people they do need to be solid dense concrete blocks but 150 isn't common so 140 wide is fine..
