ive just removed these from 2 security lights on the side of our house. im told theyre not mainstream. there arnt any markings on them.

anyone know what type they are? they measure 4cm in length.

thanks

Agree with BS3036, those are G9 Halogen lamps. Check the fittings as there should be a sticker somewhere near the lamp holder stating the wattage and voltage of the lamps it uses.

Thanks everyone.

BS3036 - they look like an exact match.

what wattage do you think i should go for? the ones which have blown were very bright (60w?), but i guess they need to be for security..??

Those light bulbs are quite inefficient and produce a light spectrum that is not terribly useful.

If these are on PIR (motion sensors) then fair enough, if they do the job.

But if they are left on for long periods, I'd suggest a compact fluorescent (low energy) fitting.

I picked one up in B&Q recently for about £15 and it has a dusk-dawn photocell (light sensor) too.

Just trying to help save our planet.
