Hi All,

Just had someone round to give me a quote on skimming a wall. It appears that after the woodchip (devils paper) has been stripped there is some sort of white wash - aniglipter that is directly onto the plaster.

It has been recommended that I use a solvent/oil based paint to go over these areas....it is either this or scrape the paint off from the plaster....nightmare.

Can someone please just set my mind at ease that this is is the correct thing to do.

Cheers

Tone,
If this stuff wont budge,I would do that, and have done that.Give it a good coat of oil based paint, let it dry,PVA the wall and plaster it over. The wall doesn't have to be smooth, just make double sure though that all the loose stuff has been removed.

Roughcaster.

Thin your paint down so that the paint soaks into to the 'distemper'. If you don't it will sit on the top and will peel off.
