Hi,

In my consumer unit I have to following

2x 5Amp for the light circut
3x 30Amp for the ring main and the cooker
1x 15Amp - I think this is for the imersion heater.

Question is, should the ring main and cooker ones be 30Amp or should they be 20 or 45 for the cooker.

Also why are some ring main 20Amp and some 30Amp.

Thanks in advance

Mark

if it isn't broke, then dont fix it.

It has to do with two things, the size of the cable and the amount of current being drawn, all ring main circuits are 30 amp because thea is how they are designed, using two 2,5mm t&e cables.

The cooker has a 30amp fuse since that is the maximum it will ever draw and I should say that it only has a 6mm t&e cable
