I need to box in a PVC soil pipe in my semi integral garage to prevent fire ingress into the bathroom room above, as I can't fit an intumescent collar due to space restrictions.

The maximum constructed panel size would be 80 inches by 30 inches

I imagine plasterboard would meet the requirements but I am useless at plastering (to finish the job)

I would prefer to use a harder type of board (fire resistant) and which could be painted without requiring plastering first.

Could anyone suggest a suitable board please?

Many thanks,

Plasterboard does not require plaster to paint.

But wont get the necessary fire resistance if not skimmed.

Masterboard would be the cheapest, or Superlux. Or any calcium silicate board

You will need intumescent sealant around the sides and corner joint. And fix with brass cup washers

You could just double up on the plasterboard.
