What fixing for battening wall?

Hi,

I will be fixing 4 x 2 inch battons to a masonry wall and plasterboarding it over.

What size frame fixing would I need?

Would these be ok?

whats wrong with using 4" screws and brown plugs??

If you have a lot to do I would get a box of rapier star fixings, you can drill straight through the wood into the wall then put your fixing in 120mm will do.

Why not directly bond plasterboard to wall?

Yes you can, I did it in my garage conversion, then tape and joint filler the joins for a perfect finish after some sanding down. Very easy with a little effort.
