I think that they are a waste of my time (as an ex washing m/c repair man) often they collect fluf etc, and block (does take time) and i used to get calls saying m/c will not empty, the spiggot was blocked, once i had come off and m/c flooded floor (but only because spiggot was blocked, no jubilee clip to hold hose in place and back pressure blew it off
