What is a sprigot?

Had a new washing machine delivered today and the Mrs has just phoned me to say they couldn't install it as our sprigot wasn't long enough.

It where the washing machine rubber hose at the end connect to.
Does connector hose sound better !

I think that they are a waste of my time (as an ex washing m/c repair man) often they collect fluf etc, and block (does take time) and i used to get calls saying m/c will not empty, the spiggot was blocked, once i had come off and m/c flooded floor (but only because spiggot was blocked, no jubilee clip to hold hose in place and back pressure blew it off
