what no shower trap?

hi everyone, help needed for newbie, having fitted my shower waste
which is just a chrome tube with a top pull out cleaning grate, i am
now thinking does it have a waste trap at all, because its not like the
plastic ones with a built in trap, i like this one i have because its metal
but should i give up and get the plastic one. grateful for any advice.

It's the tube itself that creates the trap effect - it means that you can remove it to service the "trap" area without having any bends to try to poke something down.
