What SDS drill

I've used these before to hack off render and when drilling larger bore holes for piping but have always made do by borrowing other peoples. Now I've moved house and need my own, both because my walls are harder (not stone but still very durable) and I'm going to need to cut channels for some extensive rewiring. After all, Christmas is coming . . .

So my question is this, what wattage do I need? I'm used to a 850 watt tool which is plenty but could I get by on 700 watt or even 600 watt drill? It's a question of buying a brand I trust and respect at lower wattage or a cheaper make with more grunt.

If you are rich, buy a Hilti.

For everyone else (me included) there is Bosch blue.

Agree with the blue Bosch recommendation - I recently bought this one;

It seems to have gone up a bit but shop around - it's a beast, nothing it hasn't gone through yet and also made short work of hacking off a load of very stuck on tiles.

bosch blue all the way.END OF.
if your going to be doing a lot of hacking off,then maybe go down the higher route,the bosch are exelent for doing the odd chasing and wall.but if its constantly on for hours on end then it isnt going to last long.

Cheers guys! I found the 240v model on another website. Reckon this will do me a treat. If I have to hack off one side of the house I'll hire a 5 joule proper job but this looks like it'll do me a treat for regular bits and pieces. Happy to get a trusted brand rather than one that'll break on me. Really pleased with this.
