The automated gate people are finally comming to automate my drive gates. They tell me its a 10 amp load. There is about 120 feet of 2.5 with one junction where it changes from 2+E in the house to armoured cable, from the CU to the gate motor. There is a spare 16 amp mcb on the CU, will this be ok to use?

yup, that should be fine..
as this work involves a new circuit and outdoor cabling it is notifiable under part P of the building regulations...!!
