It's got a 4.3m span so I'm thinking 6 by 2 at 60cm intervals, but would 4 by 2 suffice? I realise it wouldn't for a house extension but it's a flat felt roof and no internal ceiling to crack or palsterboard/insulation weight

2x8 @ 400 centres is more like it.
2x4 @ 600 centres no good for spans over 1.75m
2x6 @ 600 centres no good for spans over 3m
