Hi,
Just boarded my loft out and I now plan on removing the old flue to the living room which is now redundant. There is zero chance of it ever being used again, it messed up the walls in the living room and bedroom above, and the gas supply pipe has been cut off.
I plan on stuffing the flue with insulation within the wall, and removing the pipe as the joints are failing and it isn't well supported. That's the flue side of it sorted - but what do I do with the ridge tile end? Cap it off somehow, or leave it 'open' to the loft, perhaps with a strategically placed bucket to catch anything coming in?
Here's a couple of pics to hopefully explain things better
