What to fill a gap between wall and coving??

Hi all
What is the best thing to do about a gap between wall and coving.
I have tried to fill them in in the past but they keep on cracking and looks awful. Its not even cracking straight all higgly piggly.
What is the best thing to do for this please?
Should I use a filler or a flexible caulk.?
If caulk which is the best one for the job please?

Tool/smooth it while still wet. Don't try to sand it afterwards.

Far better than any decorator's caulk.
