What to put in Gabion baskets

I'm building a gabion retaining wall of 1m high.

I've just dug up the garage floor and need to get rid of 2.5m3 of tarmac

Could I use old tarmac to fill the gabion basket?

i would imagine it would slowly leach all sort of nasty things out of it over the years.

Warm up the pile with a large blowtorch-just the surface- throw an old tarp over it and flog it to the local "Tarmackers" They`ll think it`s just been batched, smouldering gently
